Business is booming for Amazon - not just in the US, but worldwide. Millions more Amazon devices were purchased this year alone and more than one billion items were shipped with Prime this holiday season. More surprisingly, however, is that pruchases through voice assistant Alexa have tripled compared to last year.
Smart speakers like the Amazon Echo can understand every word you say. In order to this, the smart speaker needs to be permanently active. This function can also be used to give every Echo an alarm system. Amazon has already begun rolling out this feature with a software update.
Whether it's letters or phone calls, emails or text messages, people have always been concerned about possible invasions of their privacy. And with the arrival of smart speakers like Google Home and Amazon Alexa, the issue is more relevant than ever.
Alexa's getting a whole lot louder now! With the Echo Plus and especially the Echo Sub, Amazon is turning up the volume on its smart speakers.
