You won't believe this Galaxy Note 6 rumor
The latest Galaxy Note 6 rumor is a stunner. As yet unconfirmed, it suggests two things which are so good they seem difficult to believe. If true, however, the Note 6‘s release could be one of the best moves Samsung ever made. So what’s it all about?
Early release
According to Korean website The Bell, Samsung plans to release the Note 6 in mid-July this year. That’s about one month earlier than expected, considering the Note 5 was released in the US August 21 of last year. Why would Samsung release the Note 6 earlier though? It’s not clear what the benefits of a July release would be.
But it’s not the first time Samsung has shifted the release date of its Note line from year to year. The Note 4 was released in October of 2014 and the Note 3 in September 2013. It shifts by one month each year. So an earlier release date, 11 months after the Note 5 came out, could be entirely plausible.
Android N
But there’s something more interesting than the Note 6’s possible release date – it’s what it has inside. The report claims that the Note 6 will be running Android N right out of the box. Google’s Nexus devices are always the first to ship with the newest version of Android every year. Last year’s Nexus phones didn’t ship until late October but, considering the earlier-than-normal release of the Android N developer preview this month, we could certainly see an earlier release of the final version of Android’s latest iteration.
Considering there are still Galaxy S6 units floating around the AndroidPIT office without a Marshmallow update, many months after Google released it, such a quick inclusion of Android N would be completely at odds with the usually sluggish update schedule Samsung is known for.
Rumors piling up
The Note 6 rumor pile has so far presented some compelling specs. We’ve heard about a potentially larger 5.8-inch display, which would help to differentiate it even more from the Galaxy 7 Edge. This would help avoid cannibalizing sales. Others include a huge 6 GB of RAM and even 256 GB of internal storage.
So far it looks like the Note 6 could be more of a powerhouse than what we saw with the Note 5, which didn’t have the same stature as previous Notes in an ecosystem that had become phablet-filled by 2015.This could be a turning point for Samsung’s biggest device, considering we’ve predicted the fantastic S7 Edge has signalled what sounds like a death knell for the Note series.

Flat and edge screen options as i dont like the edge style, better battery if the phone is more powerful, sd card slot, fast usb socket like note 3 for date transfer not the stupid small slow socket, better forward facing speaker /s - why put them in the back like note 4? My note 4 is taking its time with some apps now so 6gb ram please, this is just what i would like to see based on my use of all the note range since it was released, thanks samsung
Reading some comments here and to be fair with Samsung, the last 3 months I've had monthly security patches on my S6, Jan 1st, Feb 1st and im currently on March 1st. And i live in UK, so they are starting to get there, plus it's also down to the operator your on aswell, whenever they decide to push it out. But onto the note 6, Sounds like a powerful bit of tech if rumours are true. Might even buy one myself and skip the s7 this year.. 🤔🤔
Honestly, if you are on an S6 or Note 5 already then the upgrade to the S7 would be foolish. It is only an incramental upgrade and the S6/N5 are still upto par and premium devices that outclass midrange devices being planned this year.
I love my Note 3 but I'm anxiously awaiting the Note 6. The rumor mill also stated that the Note 6 might be the last Note. I'm looking forward to 256 GB Internal memory because every sd card I've tried to use with my phones has become corrupted and unusable. The water proof feature is also great.
I had a Not 3 then a Note 4. I didn't buy the Note 5 due to lack of extended storage ( I have a lot of music on my phone and data is too expensive in Australia to do a lot of streaming). I tossed my Note 4 as I found that with a lot of apps (I am a power user) the 3GB or RAM just isn't enough. With Touchwiz and the extra bloat wear installed there is never enough available RAM and it has huge performance lags. I bought an Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe which cost less than half the price but has consistently great performance (4GB RAM/No touchwiz), althought slighly worse call quality. I think no matter how awesome Samsung device spec's appear to be, any power user will be let down by the lack of resources available once all of the extra Samsung crap has used up most of the available RAM. Also, not liking Samsung's upgrade policies. They make great products and focus on bringing out better new devices for people to buy while leaving existing customers unsupported. I don't just mean slow OS version upgrades, but it's unbelievable that, for example, the stagefright exploit fix took so many months to roll out to their devices. Security patches like this should be rolled out IMMEDIATLY if it impacts the user's privacy or risks damaging their device. From a legal sense, I would think it would make Samsung liable for any damages done by these exploits. Samsung is not alone in the slow deployment of OS Updates and patches, but they are pretty much the worst offenders. My Asus Zenfone 2 Deuxe is still running Android 5.0, but has had several security patches pushed out to it since I've had it over the last 2 months.
I think that it all sounds great but, security and bug updates? Currently looks like only for 18 months then you are on your own! TALK AND INTERNET simultaneously, IR, replaceable battery and charging case, 2TB card.... I Will miss S note and pen but I would buy the first generation V 10 before a Note 5!!! Show me some support for the Note 4 if you want to sell me 3 new phones! Is the G5 battery replaceable. I will have 2 S5's to replace. They have received even worse support!
It's worthless if you can't buy it, how good the specs may be. So Samsung, admit your mistake and selling in Europe again!
Note 6 with Android N snapdragon or exynos and 256gb storage sounds great to me. Have been using note 4 and didnt upgrade to note only reason doesnt have micro sd solt. Hope it comes back with note 6 as they did with S7. Icing on the cake would be water proof but its unlikely to happen.
Its not unlikely. They did it with the S7 its very very likely the note 6 will be waterproof. It will most likely will be.

Was wondering the same. Hopefully they will.
My upgrade for my contract is in in July so if the Note 6 is released with Android N I will upgrade to it, but being a long user of samsung I doubt that we will see N released with the device.
I hope they bring back the ability to actively use data and the phone at the same time. Taking that away on the note 5 was a big loss as a business owner with the need to actively communicate and search information at the same time!

I will only believe what Samsung has done with Note 6, on the day it is announced officially. Anything else is guesswork.
All I hope is that it will get to UK this time.
I find it rather doubtful for Samsung to bring on Android N so early into the game. No way the Nexus are not going to be the first ones to get it. Google's main selling point would be lost.
I don't think there's a competition between the Nexus and Note lines. That's like a competition between a local hardware store and Home Depot. The Nexus line is a tiny niche line of phones. I can't imagine Samsung even noticing them when making decisions.
