HTC just can't seem to catch a break at the moment. It has recently been revealed that the smartphone makers has recently posted another loss of Q3 of 2013, and this is despite making quality handsets and also recruiting Robert Downey Jr. for their ad-campaigns. For this most recent quarter the troubled smartphone giant posted a net loss of about $101 million.

The loss that HTC made this last quarter was actually more than what analysts had predicted before hand. This and the other problems that have dogged the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, such as the Facebook phone that bombed a few months ago, have meant that the company has lost about 80% of its stock value in the last two years.

One thing that is also puzzling a lot of people is the inability of the company to turn things around despite making some decent smartphones and spending quite a bit of money on advertising behind those devices. These moves are just not working for some reason. The HTC One was a well received phone but was overshadowed by the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4 which was released at around the same time.

Samsung continues to strengthen its grip on the Android smartphone market, while its competitors like Nokia, HTC and BlackBerry continue to fall by the wayside.

What do you think about these recent numbers being posted by HTC and do you think that the company can mount a comeback? Please leave us a comment below and we will get back to you.

LG and Sony are able to subsidize their phone business with their other businesses but the stand alone phone OEMs are in trouble. They can't compete with Samsung's integrated manufacturing and marketing clout. its no surprise we keep reading headlines like this. The OEMs in the future will be diverse OEMs like Lenovo who can survive on Android's razor thin margins.

First they ditched One S and many other phones by stopped updating them, then they put in a 4mp camera on their flagship phone. What I think is HTC deserves it. Making good phones isn't enough, they must not abandon consumers after sales.

Unless your Samsung, Android is a tough business to be in. The margins just aren't there to support these manufacturers.

It's sad to see a pioneer fall so far.
HTC needs to make there phone easier to root and unlock and go back to there roots.
Still holding out that they will pull through.........and don't sell out to another company......Come on HTC
