Moto E (2016) price and release date
The Moto E (2nd generation) was announced early February 2015 and released on February 26, 2015. The initial price for the US was US$149 with a similar price in other countries. Motorola is pretty consistent with its pricing for successive generations and we could expect a price for the Moto E (2016) to be near its predecessor.
Moto E (2016) design
The design of the Moto E (2015) was sturdy but within the bounds of an affordable device. It had a 129.9 x 66.8 x 12.3 mm body and weighed 145 g. The LCD screen was 4.5 inches, and was protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The Moto E (2015) had a better design than its predecessor, the Moto E (2014), although they did not differ too greatly. Given this, we could expect a similar progression from the 2015 version to the 2016 one: a practical, hearty body with little deviation from the previous model. Although we do not yet know the body size, the current rumors show the Moto E (2016) with a larger (5-inch) HD screen.
Moto E (2016) Specs
The Moto E (2015) had some respectable specs for its price range. And while there were some difficulties, the Moto E (2015) managed to get an AnTuTu benchmark score of 21,856, that's nearly 8,000 more than it predecessor, the Moto E (2014). We hope for another improvement in performance for the 2016 model.
Possible specs rumors leaked by WinFuture and picked up by PhoneArena give us some insight about what the Moto E (2016) could contain. The reports indicate that there will be two variants of the device. The devices are only known as XT1700 and XT1706 (from GFXBench) and they have the exact same specs.
According to the reports, both versions of the Moto E (2016) have the same display, MediaTek MT6735P quad-core processor, the Mali-T720 GPU, 1.9 GB RAM, 12 GB of internal storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The rear camera is 7 MP and the front is 4.7 MP.
