HTC Chacha Cannot add or save new contacts....

My HTC Chacha is just 3 weeks old and i am already facing trouble saving new contacts. The problem started just few days back and now whenever i try to save a contact the applicatio 'people' stops working abruptly and i have to force shut down. Pls suggest a solution
