5 reasons to delete your Snapchat account

Whilst Snapchat is perfect for bombarding your best friends with horrific, up-close pictures of you and your nose hair, getting rid of it may prove rather liberating. Are you toying with the idea of pulling the plug on Snapchat once and for all? If you need convincing, here are five reasons why you should delete Snapchat.

1. Your face is sad

Every time you pick and pull at your face, you're causing damage and irritating the skin, which is why playing around with the latest face-warping Snapchat filters or excessive use of the classic 'duck face' is a health concern.

If you're a real beauty and fitness obsessive, perhaps knowing that those long sessions striking poses and sending pictures to your bestie are wearing your poor old skin out.

There are various health studies out there that prove twisting your face into weird positions is a bad idea. We'll admit seeing who can pull the ugliest expression on Snapchat is a genuinely fun, family-friendly game, but it's not such a laugh for your chops.

2. The danger of screenshots

Even though Snapchat's makers discourage you from taking screenshots without another person giving you the OK to do so, it's still easy to get a screenshot of your mate doing something they regret.

Well, guess what? It works both ways, and as long as you have the Snapchat app on your smartphone you'll be living in fear that one of your contacts will eventually grab evidence of you being an idiot or making a terrible mistake. Why take the chance?

If you're the sort of person that hates being humiliated, it's probably worth getting rid of the Snapchat app for Android, because it's only a matter of time before you get burned.

3. 'Best Friend' politics

Back when the Snapchat app for Android publicly displayed a user's 'best friends', the feature caused chaos amongst mates wondering why they weren't each others most-snapped. It was the cause of plenty of awkward moments, that's for sure.

Thankfully, the potentially friendship-destroying feature is no longer as accessible, but it's still possible to see a friend's top Snapchat friends by peering sneakily over their shoulder or violently grabbing their phone out of their hand.

By finally uninstalling the Snapchat app for good, you can live comfortably knowing that your friend who isn't your best mate but thinks he is can continuing living in ignorance. The best part is that you'll never even have to break it to him that he's wrong and he's sat in fourth position. Perfect.

4. Mistakes will be made

Regular Snapchat users will undoubtedly have sent a snap to somebody they didn't mean to on a number of facepalm-inducing occasions.

Sometimes, sending a silly picture to a person you didn't intend to can be a hilarious, leg-slapping event. Other times, it can be embarrassing to the point where you have to send a follow-up snap to the same person begging for forgiveness.

It's a shame that you can't undo a picture or video snap after you've sent it out for a select time, but that's just the dangerous game you'll have to play as a Snapchat user.

If you're nervous about making a big old fool of yourself, perhaps it's time to send Snapchat packing. Sometimes it's easy to move on from a case of accidental picture delivery, but not everybody has the strength to recover. Stay safe out there.

5. Snapchat takes time

If you're a polite Snapchat user, you'll probably feel obliged to reply to every single Snapchat message or picture you receive, and that can take some time.

On top of that, if you have a hefty friends list on the image-sharing Android app then you're quite possibly tired of trying to keep up with everybody's ever-growing Snapchat Story. Let's be honest, your friends aren't interesting enough to watch for hours on end, anyway.

By moving on from Snapchat you won't have to tap your way through your friend's drunken Friday night story or your other friend's in-depth account of their lunch.

Snap chat is on a whole different level of social media.. nothing can be faked on there .. everything is right now and then.. also the app is really next level amazing and they keep coming up with new and cool features.

the app stopped the best friend feature a long time ago.. now only you and youre "bestfriend" can see your best friends.. no one else knows.

more reasons to delete that app i thought you missed

data the app uses a lot of data ( make sure you restrict the data usage on this app!

the app also runs all the time and the battery takes a hit.

Well that's two minutes of my life that i'll never get back. Was it a slow day in the AP offices today or something? Some of the statements in this article are laughable. An article that is called "5 reasons to delete Snapchat" that doesn't contain a single valid reason to delete Snapchat!

Well! Here we see another example of idiocy. If you had the slightest amount of brains you wouldn't need to read an article to find reasons to delete goddamn Snapchat.
I read the article exactly so that I could reply to stupid comments like yours.

Thank goodness none of these apply to me. I use Snapchat, yes, but I only send a snap to one (and only one even though I have a few friends on Snapchat) person very irregularly. Probably once every few months months and I only receive snaps (or I only open the app) once every few weeks.
