Thanks to a source close to LG, we were able to get a look at the technical data sheet of the long-awaited V40. The South Korean company is preparing to debut the phone and faces up to its competition with five cameras, three on the back, and two on the front.

Three lenses of 12MP (f/1.5) with 1.4µm pixels, 16MP (f/1.9) with 1.0µm pixels, and 12MP (f2.4) with 1.0µm pixels will be present on the body. Telephoto, wide-angle, 2x zoom and Smart functionality is also available. LG wants to offer users a complete photography experience. On the front, there will be an 8MP and a 5MP sensor.
But there is another aspect that LG has no intention of neglecting, the audio experience. The V40 will offer the Quad DAC and Stereo Speaker Boombox. Considering the quality and power of the sound offered by the single integrated speaker on the G7, we can only imagine what Boombox stereo speakers will sound like.
The V40 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor consisting of four 2.8GHz and four 1.7GHz cores supported by 6GB of RAM and 64 or 128GB of internal memory.
The battery is a 3300 mAh, just like on the V30. The question is, will it be enough to keep the 6.4-inch P-OLED screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and QHD+ resolution going for long? Everything will depend on the optimization that will be done at software level but the information on the display suggests the presence of the notch, so be prepared!
We don’t yet know if the LG V40 will come with Android Oreo or Android Pie (this information has not been revealed to us by our source) but we know that the new smartphone will be water and dust resistant according to IP68 certification. Compared to the previous generation, the V40 has grown in size (158.7×75.8×7.79 mm) and weight (169g).

As you can see from the technical data sheet, the V40 will be a smartphone focused on multimedia: are you ready for the LG storm at the end of summer?
Two things I don’t like, a smallish battery at 3300mamp for all it’s power will it be enough to generate a 6.4 P-OLED display? Then the ridiculous notch. Right out of the gate, that’ a no go for me!
Lg makes fine hardware. Their software and support and updates and Dev community leave much to be desired. They should go Android One with these and leave the software yuck out of it

The battery is too small.
I have a v30, and I never regretted it. I had a v20 before never regretted it. But if they don’t at least put a 3800mah battery I’m not going to upgrade. Battery life on my v30 is horrible.
It sounds like a stunner, hardware wise. How well they can get these parts to work together in harmony , performance, and durability, is a question.
I’ve been using a V20 for over a year and a half, and it’s been pretty great. I was able to get a second battery (lg 3200mah factory battery, not a knockoff) not too long after getting the phone, so if I ever need it, I’ll have it. I haven’t needed it, yet, but I’m also not impressed by the battery life. So, it spends a lot of time on the charger – at home, I plug it in, when I’m not actively moving around with it. It’s on a charger in the car when listening to bluetooth music. It comes off the charger for my bluetooth earbuds when I mow, am at a restaurant, or am shopping at wally-world.
I am glad to hear that the V40 will be coming out with a p-oled screen, as the color lcd, while it’s not been a lasting problem, does occasionally have little problems with screen ghosting, when I let it sit somewhere with the screen on a webpage for too long. I found that does go away, if it’s left sitting in front of an ac vent, or on the phone mount in my car, which is positioned in front of an ac vent, as well.
I haven’t had a phone with the ‘notch,’ yet, but I suppose it’s something similar to the ‘second screen’ at the top of my V20, so I suspect that I’ll like it. I do wonder just how much difference I’ll be able to see between the two phones as far as resolution is concerned – qhd vs 1hd+ on a handheld display? hopefully this new one will be allowed to run Daydream. It’s my understanding that Google blocked it from our V20s because they don’t like the LCD screen.
IP68 sounds nice. I do hate losing the ability to swap out batteries, though.
My past 3 phones have been LG. But I will never buy a phone with a notch, period.
