How to fix 'Unfortunately app has stopped' error on Android

Do you get the following message when an app crashes? "Unfortunately, Google keeps stopping", "unfortunately, Facebook has stopped", or "unfortunately, WhatsApp has stopped"? Actually, the particular app doesn't matter, any app can suffer from this misfortune and give a similar message. But there are ways to solve it. Here's how to fix "Unfortunately, the app has stopped" errors.
Jump to:
- Google has stopped
- Clear out the app's storage
- Check the SD card
- Uninstall and reinstall the app
- Turn it off and on again
- Uninstall Android System WebView update (March 2021 glitch)
- Last resort: do a factory reset
Google has stopped
In June 2021, Android smartphones around the world are plagued by a bug that concerns the Google app. Smartphones are constantly displaying the "Google has stopped" error message, making them almost unusable. Here's how some users managed to solve the problem.
- Force stop the Google Play Updates app
- Go to Settings on your smartphone and find Apps
- Find the Google Play services and enter the options
- Hit the Force stop button
- Uninstall the Google Updates
- Go back to the Apps overview in the settings
- Find the Google app and enter the options
- Find the Uninstall updates option and hit it.

If those steps are not solving the problem for you, the further step in this tutorial may be of help. Please let us know in the comments if you were able to solve the "Google has stopped"-issue by completing the above steps – or if you found an alternative solution.
Clear out the app's storage
This problem often arises with the contacts, gallery and launcher apps. The procedure to fix this is generally always the same.
- First, go to Settings on your device.
- Open Apps and Notifications then App info.
- Scroll down to the app that's causing problems and tap on it.
- In the next menu, hit Storage.
- Here you will find the Clear data and Clear cache options.
Clear cache is the option you should start with. It will get rid of saved data that allows apps to load a little quicker when you launch them. Clearing it means the app will open a little slower, but your main problem might well be solved.
Clear data will erase all the app's data, including files, settings, and accounts, so don't use this unless you have to.

Check the SD card
Thanks to Paul in our comments section who pointed out that this error can also relate to a corrupted memory card. If the memory card is corrupted, then any apps that write to the memory card will suffer this kind of error.
To check this, simply remove the memory card and launch the app that has stopped working. If it works, then you have your culprit. If this turns out to be the case, you'll need a new memory card, but you should still be able to transfer the data from your memory card to your PC as a backup.
Of course, if you don't use an SD card, then skip ahead to the next step.
Uninstall and reinstall the app
If the app isn't built-in, you can also try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it from the Google Play Store. Simply open the Play Store app, open the menu bar on the left-hand side and tap on My apps and games. Find the app in question and hit Uninstall, which takes a few seconds. Afterward, you can install it again.
Turn the phone off and on again
You can also try doing a soft reset, which simply means restarting your device. This is super simple and quite effective if your phone has been on for a long time. A soft reset will power cycle your phone, turning it off and then back on again.
It’s a good idea to turn your phone off every few days for a few minutes – this will help a sluggish phone with a variety of issues, whether they're related to the app, network, audio, or email.
How to uninstall Android System WebView update
In March 2021, Android users across the world faced an issue with multiple apps crashing. This issue particularly affected people using Samsung smartphones. While Google is working on a fix for this issue, one method that seems to be working for people around the world involves removing a recent Android System Web View update. Let us see how to do it in simple steps. Note that these steps will vary depending on the custom UI that your phone uses. The steps below are for users on stock Android. For Samsung users, click here.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Scroll to Apps and Notifications and tap to open.
- Tap the See all apps link and you will see the list of all the apps installed on your phone.
- Scroll to Android System Webview and tap to open.
- On the top right-hand corner, tap the three dots and click on Uninstall Updates.
- You will be presented with a pop-up. Select OK.

On most phones, these steps should sort the issue.
How to uninstall Android System Webview updates on Samsung smartphones
On Samsung smartphones, you can do the same my proceeding with the steps shown below
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll to Apps.
- In the apps list, search for "Web" and you will see the Android System Webview app. Open it.
- In the right-hand corner, tap the Uninstall updates option.

Last resort: do a factory reset
When the above solutions have failed, you can resort to factory resetting your phone. When doing a factory reset, ensure that you have backed up all of your data beforehand. I repeat: back up all of your data first. A factory reset will wipe your device and set it back to factory defaults, taking everything, including any bugs, with it. You can restore your apps and data afterward easily, as long as you've made a backup.

For more detailed information on factory resetting your phone, take a look at our How to factory reset Android guide.
In the case of Google Play itself not working, the solution is a little more extensive: delete the cache as a first step and if this doesn't clear things up, clear your data, and finally uninstall any Play Store updates. The same steps apply to Google Play Services, but try them one by one – you don't want to lose all your Play Store preferences for no reason. Check out the complete tutorial on what to do when the Google Play Store isn’t working for more advice.
Did these solutions fix the problem for you? What other fixes do you know for these little pesky Android problems that you can share with your fellow beginner users? Tell us in the comments.

Bought a smartphone to use the app for my Tesla. After working for two years, it suddenly kept stopping. Tried clearing data & cache, also uninstalling & reinstalling - with no improvement. Contacting Tesla support, after trying a few things their conclusion was that a recent update made the app incompatible with my 'phone. Their only suggestion was to buy a new one! After reading this page I tried to find an earlier APK version of the app and install it. Hey presto - it worked. Thanks
I was given a Asus 10 inch android tablet and I could not get it to run any apps at all. It just keeps saying system has stopped.Any feedback??Thanx
I can't get into my settings to be able to do anything I can't make calls or anything. Almost every app says unfortunately xxx has stopped. Any suggestions?
What about when the "app" that is crashing is one of the core pieces of the UI/OS. I've got the basic settings app crashing on me on my English conversion of the Inkpalm. Because I'm way out of warranty in my mods and use in the USA, this is a bit more adventure than I usually have with Android.
Have to tried uninstalling the updates on the app as described in the article? This may help to roll back the app to an older, non-faulty version.
Clearing the Web view worked but it took me awhile to find it. I had to go to Apps in my Settings, then I had to click on the 3 dots upper right hand, then click on "Show system apps" and only then was I able to scroll down to Android System Web View. But it did the trick. Thank you
THANK YOU so much for this. My phone had "gone strange" - suddently -- around 18th/19th of March and from that moment, several main Apps just refused to run or exited immediately with "Unfortunately XXX has stopped". That included BBC iPlayer and a Podcast app and some others: AS SOON as I deinstalled Android Web View (as far as you're allowed to) and then disabled it, -- phone fully back to normal.
Update google chrome from the play store. End of problems.
Thank you for sharing this! I did the same thing and everything seems good!
It was the SD card for me. Took it out and found a tiny bit of fluff on one of the connections. Great tip - would have taken me ages to think of that
Hello, I uninstalled the Webview app - haven't had the error message any more for the last 10 minutes! Before it came all 3-6 seconds! THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!
hi my phone is a samsung galaxy jp3 luna pro it keeps constantly popping up the message none of those things worked tho
My X5a phone has the pop up "unfortunately phone lock has stopped" I have done a factory reset and still the message keeps popping up on the first page. Don't know what else to do.
Follow the instructions above ? worked a treat for me.
Hi, my phone is android 6, asus zenfone 2. I have done everything, including factory reset. Still when i try to access to the app, same message appear. I have called the app, they say they don't have problem with my account. I called my phone developer, they should not have problem. I'm stuck now. btw the app is socar.
Good to know. Thanks
Amazon Drive constantly stopping whenever I try to upload something to it.
Amazon Drive constantly stopping whenever I try to upload something to it.
That's such an annoying thing. Thank you
There was no option to uninstall Outlook on my phone. The only option is Update which I did...and problem solved. Thanks!
I tried your fix by uninstalling the updates for Android System Web View App and it worke like a champ. Among the apps that failed with the "Unfortunately, xxx has stopped..." the Android System Web View App was one. Thanks a million!
Members those who have failed to get a solution, please try this it, update your *Android system web view app* or Uninstall it's updates. Trust me this will work for most of you
I found something simple that worked when I had a bunch of apps that started saying stopped. It was Gas Buddy, Shop Savvy, all my virus programs to start and kept adding more. All I did was go to APPs and picked "reset app preferences". I tried that in case an app got messed up when I stopped it to save data usage. It worked immediately and every app (approx. 20) started working perfect again. Happy ME! I was ready to reset phone.
Thanks for the post but this solution worked for me but I didn't work for my friend's phones then I contacted someone they help me to solve this problem.
Guys, I believe this is a GOOGLE PLAY problem on Googles end. I have tried every single fix out there including factory reset. It does not fix it. Sometimes it is facebook app that keeps stopping, sometimes it is Gmail, other times it is Messenger. It's random every time. I have had to reset my phone twice in one day. I have a UL40 ANS android 7.1 cell phone provided to me for free from Assurance Wireless. I have to reset my phone every other month or so, sometimes more often. It is GOOGLES fault. I found out the people that work for Google refuse to test their own apps on their own phones. THAT tells me their apps are not good to use if they won't even use them themselves. This issue will not be resolved until Google fixes it and I don't see them doing that any time soon.
Please try the solution I posted above it might work for you
Yes it does, I can vouch for it. Thanks kizito, you were the first to mention this. Some people refuse to read the words in front of them :)
Thanks Loie! I just fixed a similar issue with your help. The CBS All Access app video & audio wouldn't load, and then the app "stopped responding". I have Android 7.1.1 on my Nextbit Robin, so I first went to the PlayStore thinking it was the App. Did an update; no change. Uninstall & reinstall; no change. I still got the flag: "CBS has stopped responding- Close? Wait? or Report".
I began to suspect Android and/or the phone when the same fault reported for YouTube. So, l did a 'soft' reboot to no avail. Time to consult the Oracle of Odiousness- Google. While I got your suggestion(s) to 1-Clear Cache, 2-Clear Data, 3-Clear EVERYTHING, the steps you gave weren't clear to me. In my Nextbit, the path was Settings > Apps > All Apps > 'app name' > Storage > Clear Cache (686 MB!) After a Re-start all was good.
My phone shows "app update keeps stopping " error without specifying the app itself.
What can I do?
I had this bug recently but I managed to solve it by going to Settings/Apps and then search for an app with no icon (app that doesn't look like the rest of the apps, i. e doesn't have active icon, with size on it (MB) and no name) and uninstall it. It worked fine for me
The error messages I got was : "app stopped working... close app" .
I am using android 4.4 in my tablet and after doing factory reset the problem still is there every time I install a new app,pls help, thanks.
I'll just flag two possibilities not covered in the article:
1. Using the microSD as "adoptable storage" (Android M and later) can foul up apps that aren't modified to it. The microSD is encrypted and incorporated into internal storage, so apps are supposed to use it that way, but some just won't. It can foul up installations as well as normal operation of some apps. After problems on a Marshmallow tablet, I had to do a factory reset and reconfigure the microSD as ordinary external storage.
2. There is a "Recovery Menu" half-way house between deleting individual app data and whole hog factory reinstall, which wipes out media, downloaded apps and system settings. Most devices support wiping the system cache partition, normally by restarting with a combined press of power button and volume up or down. The key combination varies with device / OEM - it's usually in the user manual or online. The keypress combination opens a hidden Android menu, and selecting the cache parition wipe will do wonders, especially after a major operating system update. It does not wipe Android settings, media files, individual apps, or their caches and the device should restart cleanly as it was.
My tablet keeps showing 'unfortunately com.google.package installer had stopped'. Iv tried clearing data's, caches and even factory resetted but still the same message pops up. Any advice on what I can do? Please and thanks.
I have a Galaxy J7 Sky Pro. I had the NC Education Lottery app loaded and it was working perfectly. Then a few days ago I got "Unfortunately, NC Lottery has stopped". I have tried all of the suggestions you listed below, except clearing data. Just can't do that. Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem????
One fix that is not mentioned is related to a corrupted memory card. If you have apps that write to the memory card and the card is corrupted, you will have this kind of error. Simply remove the memory card and try the app that has stopped working. If it works, then you have your culprit. My Moto G 4G has had a Sandisk microSD card mounted since I started using it. Apps like the camera and Kinsa thermometer stopped working, along with video. Turned out, the memory card was corrupt. Everything works fine now. I just need to buy a new one. I was able to download everything I had on the card to my computer hard drive.
You can use allavsoft to download YouTube to Samsung TV Video Format to Play YouTube on Samsung TV.
i have gsmart essence 4.4.2 and this open game guardian i selected game and closes game. and process system ui isnt responding do you want close it? i press ok. and closes system ui notification bar then starts and saying again system ui isnt responding what this system ui because trying recent apps to running app first opened game guardian. sryy guys im rooted device using kingroot i trying auto touch app calls hiromacro and then work again hiromacro doesnt work as touchmove not coding something else. only hdpi phones stop then all and touch screen cant touch but apps still running these hacked
i do a factory reset and it still doesn't fix the problem. all apps including keyboard, camera, everything has stopped. worst, i unable to start my phone.. after pushing power button, Samsung logo appear and it will stay like that until forever. i need to took out battery and restart it multiple times. i only can enter my phone in 1 out of 5-6 attempts of restarting. after i finally can use my phone, the ''unfortunately, (any) apps has stopped working'' will show up and my phone will stop responding and starting to get hot. usually within minutes after i log into my phone. to make matter worst, i can't turn off my phone cause it has stop responding. i need to take out the battery to turn off the phone. please help. i'm using Samsung galaxy 4, android kitkat.
you need install rom your device first you need plug in your PC device first you need open application to install your rom and wait few minutes then you done
how did you fix this problem? i want to know because i have the same problem with my phone... thanks !!!
hello, can you elaborate or explain more? i have the same problem and i want to know how to fix it... thank you ...
nothing will fix this. It is a huge error on Google's part and they won't fix it. They refuse to use their own apps on their own phones. Go figure.
Hi I guys
I really hope you can help me here
I have Samsung j7 prime
SM-G610M

Maybe I can install something that will help?
Thanks a lot
Jacob
Try going to APPs and selecting " reset app preferences" worked for me.
is there a way to stop it without clearing anything? I am definitely not deleting any data
Try going to APPs and selecting " reset app preferences" worked for me.
This article sucks as much as android does. It reminds me of those windows days when they used to say how you can stop the blue screen of death but nothing ever seemed to work. Then you have a sea of helpless blind people leading other blind people into perpetual frustration. This dumb issue has been on my samsung s8 since it left the store, it's been there after factory resets and cache clears and app deletions and anything else you can name. This is a fault with the way the apps have been developed or the operating system itself. Users shouldn't have to "fix anything. And this is why android sucks. Welcome to Windows 2017
Hi Uphonix Wun, sorry to hear that the tips did not help in your case. The thing is that a lot of times they actually do help ;) As you are using a rather new phone, it sounds like the software issue can't be easily solved. I would recommend to get a replacement for your phone. And btw. just because some Android phones run into this issue, it doesn't mean that Android generally sucks ;)
i'm using s4 android kitkat and i also suffered these same issue. can u help me? i have just commented about my problem on the comment box above. tq
no it's not android that sucks, its google itself. They are the problem. Hundreds if not thousands of people suffer this problem and nothing fixes it not even factory reset. I did some research and it is an issue on Google's end. Something to do with Google Play Services not running right and messing up all other apps. But there is NO fix for this. If factory reset doesn't work, nothing will. I don't know how to avoid this issue as I've had it with several different phones. Google refuses to address this problem, and I know for a fact their own employees refuse to use the google apps on their own phones, which tells me something......
it has nothing to do with anyones phones, its an issue on Googles end and they won't fix it. They refuse to use their own apps on their own phones and that tells me something......
Hi, in my Motorola G4 Play, the "Applications > Application manager" does not exist, What can I do?
You can usually go into Settings / Apps / [Select app] / Storage and clear caches and data. There are also some peculiar apps that build up gigantic multi-gigabyte files of old historical crap in Settings / Storage / Misc. that can be deleted without any bad effect on functionality of the app or the system. I always check this when internal storage is getting constipated.
I never had this problem or failures to properly install and launch apps via Play Store or APK with Android G, J or L devices, but M was a complete PITA for this (as well as sluggish performance) as long as microSD was set to "adoptable storage" - resetting Android M to use the microSD as regular external storage solved these problems. Beyond that, it's always worth trying the power/volume button method for system cache deletion before doing a complete factory reset, as suggested by the other commenter here.
Well it would certainly help if I had an "application manager"
So this article was useless
This website, and even the articles on it, are amateur at best. I don't say those things lightly but its the truth. This article didn't help one bit. Not one. None of these solutions will fix the problem of applications suddenly crashing. And then when you're out of ideas, you don't offer the solution of resetting the phone. This is a waste of time. Go to XDA forums and try to find the solution there people.
My brother has this problem, but a lot deeper than this. His phone keeps giving push notifications about everything: I can't open Settings, because when I press that it says that the Settings stopped working. If I try to open the camera, it gives a notification that the camera stopped working.
Guys you need not do any of the above said if the problem started since May 2017. I had similar problem and i was able to resolve it. Uninstall or disable the app called android system web view, from application manager. This will surely works. Thanks!
This worked like a charm. Thanx
android system web view? cant find it in app mgr.
If you disable the Android System WebView, chances are other apps will stop working properly. Android System WebView, is component that renders web-content(like webpages). The issue is that since Android M (I think) all apps that use the webview UI component are dependent on the System Webview.
w0w thanks, this helps me!
Salam. When I updated the "system web view" I confront with this issue. Thanks Amal
I tried all the methods but nothing seems to work for me. But finally I was able to fix the issue by Wiping cache partition from Recovery Mode.
I found the working solution on appslova.com [Fix “Unfortunately App has Stopped” Error] ... If you guys haven't found the solution yet then there are plenty of others methods too.
I regularly clear caches and much of app data to save space on my Pipo P9 tablet. But I CONSTANTLY get the stopped message, sometimes imaginary and sometimes real. Earth and my MIDI music apps are particularly prone, but it can happen to anything, including the launcher itself, whichI'is not nice. Any ideas?
Android is a dirty operating system and Google is dirtier -they regard themselves parteners in your
phone -they enforce dirty built in apps on you that you cannot get rid of it .
My Huawei Y300 stop working . The apps that are stop working are like contacts huawei method widget
i have watched all how to fix error like that it say i must clear data or uninstall it but when i try to unistall it it say uninstaller packages has stopped when i try to clear the data it does notting i think it is a virus
I was very reluctant to factory reset my budget smartphone as before, I managed to reset the language to Chinese. I appear to have cured mine by uninstalling Kaspersky security and replacing it with AVG. I may well yet be proved wrong as I am very new to all of this. Any apps I installed after initialising my new phone were stopping.
Clearing cache and data / information is destroyed How do we solve the problem without a clear alternative after we get the cache Vdyta Backup
Ask Rahil Google
Why gardenscape plarix game doesn't work in my lenovo a7000. I already donwload it, try to play this game many times but it always says unfortunately stop? Please update me if what will i do.
terrible advice. just spent over $100 on an app and it kept stopping on on me. Cleared cache. No good. Cleared data as stated........entire game info gone. Played for over a month everyday and had about 300 wrapped up in it and its all gone. Perhaps giving advice isn't the strong suit of this place.
after clear cache and factry reset still my google chore and youtube not working in my new samsung s7 .
Unfortunately onecooleditor has stopped. Error in my QMobile i7
Are "Cache" and "Dalvik Cache" the same thing? If not, where is the Dalvik Cache? On the app or the system? And how to clear it without rooting?
They're different. Dalvik cache can only be cleared from recovery and that requires root access.
I had similar problem...
Reinstalled whatsapl but that did not work..
Realized that there are apps which can cause such problems.
Had an app..smart app lock or something...
Uninstalled it and whatsapp was back to normal !
I found that by removing the app lock feature of CM Security fixed this issue for me! No uninstalling and reinstalling or factory reset.
My Samsung galaxy S6 Edge all application has stopped. Always restarting always switch off and freeze. All the suggestion I did already hard reset wipe data cached. Uninstall I don't download so.much only Facebook and messenger. I send for fix they do reflash software update. But still same problem nothing change. My phone was brand new. Difficult to send back to seller cause.I live in the island of Maldives very far from the city. Any suggestions how I can fix. Thank you so much
me too same here
Essentially thats no solution at all ; just the equivalent of "make sure the plug is plugged in, reformat your harddrive, deinstall the programm"
not a single explanation what is causing the error to appear, not a single step further to the root cause - therefore no real fix.
We just end up re-installing and factory-reseting our phones for the rest of its existance ; because until we have understood
what is cause to this effect, we are bound to cause the effect again and again and again - until we finally understand why NOKIA was so popular amongst people who want to use their time for something productive or constructive.
Strangely enough many people feel enlightened by this collection of common sense (clear cache/reinstall .. backup before you factory reset) - which is cool, and i dont mean to belittle that.
It is just that it does not hit the mark for people who want to get this fixed for good....
Those steps may not work all the time but still better than nothing at all. And it actually works for some. If you have better idea, please share it to us. It's better than to criticize w/o giving a solution. :-)
yes resetting does not help. I've reset multiple phones dozens of times, have to reset twice in one day sometimes. I have to reset every other month or so, sometimes more. This is an issue on GOOGLE'S end, something to do with their Google Play Services not working properly and affecting all other apps on the phone. This issue will not resolve itself until Google decides to fix it and I don't see them doing that. I found out their employees refuse to use google apps on their own phones and that tells me something......
realy good method
Please HELP me. My SD card is demaged too. It cost as much as my phone. I can't afford to replace either at the time. I've done everything there is to do. :'(
The damaged SD card error is because of hardware , not software.
it also happened with me, and i made some adjustments with the slot of the SD card and it fixes the error
UHG! I have tried evevrything. Resart, reload, uninstall, rebooted everything & nothing. All if this while waiting for a pop up to STOP because it wouldn't STOP reading UNFORTUNATLY! HELP!

Here's a solution. Ask your local phone carrier about it. If they can't do anything, ask a family member or a friend if they know anything, if not then resort to using internet. I'd suggest watching videos depending on the problem. If literally nothing works, time to buy a new phone.
buying a new phone don't work. I did that and still got the same errors, even though they were completely different phones. This is an issue on GOOGLES end.
Not worked for me, have had trouble with the Google play store since I downloaded it for this new tablet it brings the message up when I try to install anything through it then can't get back on it
I have done what was written here but my mobile still gives the message "unfortunately, system UI has stopped"
Please give me a solution. I've tried wiping cache, factory reset and rebooting. It works only for a bit normally but then I get the same message again.
I have restored my cell phone buht still m facing the sme problem
Buh only wen data is on
I get the "Unfortunately Android Wear has stopped" message on my Moto 360 periodically. I have to do a factory reset to clear it up.
i have done everything.. all the setttings from youtube.. Only solution is Removed Your Battery the best solution
not all of us can remove the battery, some are permanently there and cannot be removed without breaking the device as in the case of my phone. But every phone has a reset button, its different for every phone. Mine is holding the volume down button and power button for 15 seconds and the phone cuts off and on.
Very nice. i really useful for lot new information.
This seems RISKY! Clearing my data seemed too sketchy for me, especially since the app giving me trouble was a music making app. Even uninstalling and reinstalling means losing everything I worked on. I didnt want to lose all my songs over this stupid error. SO I instead simply MOVED the app from Phone Storage to Internal Storage, thus everything worked out fine in the end and the error message disappeared. You guys should try moving your app from whatever storage its in to another storage unit before erasing things. Hope this works out for ya!
Or you know, get an SD card, plug into a computer, and back up your files. Not much of a risk unless you're an idiot.
No, none of these worked! Now what?
Most of these problems may be due to the fact that you have a 'Google' phone, as Google phones are schecht. I have one and will be replacing it ASAP.
I was getting "unfortunately contacts has stopped" error, I did some googling and disabled google+, I found the steps at adventapps.com

So the messages would pop up on every single one of my apps after a certain amount of time. I thought it was because i didn't have enough memory. So I ordered an sd card. and deleted unneeded apps. It kept doing it, so i started closing programs after i used them. Still no go. So finally I did a factory reset. It's STILL a problem. HELP?? please
Lauren, did you ever find out how to fix it? I REALLY need help... Nothing seems to work.
All I can do is use chrome
I sent it in for repair, they sent me a form saying that there was a damaged receptacle on my phone, that it wasn't covered under warranty, and they're sending it back. I suspect its the update itself that's faulty. I doubt they'll update this model again. My thinking is that you could wait until the next update for your phone comes out or send yours in to the manufacturer and pay them.
Buy a new phone, problem solved.
We cannot always afford new phones or give up certain hardware features we depend on. Maybe, if just one manufacturer came out with an updated model with a physical keyboard. As a graphic artist, it's a must, especially for scrolling and an uncluttered display.
its an issue on Googles end, no fix for it sorry :( i'm dealing with it too
Poor advice: I followed your instructions and it erased all my contacts, although you said it wouldn't. No thanks to you.
Erasing your contacts does nothing. Maybe you should of asked someone instead of blindly following something online that you don't fully understand. I'm assuming you're over 40 since the older generation is pretty stupid when it comes to technology.
I am well over 40, and very well versed on tech, both hardware and software. On the forums to get some practical solutions to my phone problems. And, yes, we "oldsters" can learn new things and keep up.
yea I know, that was a dick comment to make. Hell I'm in my 30's and I'll admit i'm not up to par with the latest tech. Just because you're over 40 doesn't mean you're stupid when it comes to tech. I know many people that work on PC's for a living and they are well over 40 lol
This case was happen to me also. And that was because of my mistake. I try to get more space on internal memory.
After searching many forums i not get any solution. But Finally i done fixed it by my self. Doing back word. And I like to share my experience with the world.

It have step by step what i had done crazy. what was the errors. And restoration of it.
Problem occurs due to application error. you must re install the application and you need to install it to correct place. some times when we moved applications to SD card this error can be occurs. I have similar problem with my phone "Unfortunately simcontacts has stopped".
visit to www.myandroidpos.wordpress.com will help to resolve it.
If the "App has stopped" dialog has a button to send a report, you can also preview the data to be sent in this report.
It really has some useful data (not only for developers), e.g. the exception-button shows the exception-type and optionally a cause-message, the stacktrace-button shows the exception and the execution-path that lead to the exception. This may be a hint at the original cause.
You can see all this and more logcat-output at different output-levels (error being the most useful here), if you install the basic android-sdk tools, connect your phone via usb and review the error-logs during the error-occurence (if you have a chance to reproduce it).
On rooted phones, there is also the option to install one of the many logcat-apps from playstore and let them run in the background to be able to review crash-causes at your leisure.
If you don't have the "Send Report" button, it may be that the app-developer is using a crash-reporting solution like ACRA or Crittercism.
Wondering if Google receives the reports. They don't seem to improve the apps giving me trouble or acknowledge my feedback.
google does not give a shit. this problem is most likely on THEIR end. I've done every single 'fix' for this problem and nothing works. I have to reset my phone every other month or so, sometimes more, sometimes twice in one day! I have even gotten a new phone with same old issues. I found out google employees refuse to use google apps on their own phones, so that tells me something......as long as google is making money, they're not going to fix it.
You also should note that in case of games, not only the settings, but also the save data, in other words, your progress, gets deleted as well...
I'd try a cache refresh and clearing the dalvic between a soft reset and a factory reset. just my 2¢
Cool! Thanks for the suggestion.
