Wow, what a week. My brain hurts just thinking about all the crazy activity and new devices we've seen with the IFA in Berlin last week and the Apple announcement just days ago. With all these new devices, reviews, and hands-on tests, what's been capturing your attention this last week?
Even with all the new releases from Samsung and Apple recently, an older Samsung model was still top of the pops this week. Not long ago, the Galaxy Note 2 was confirmed to be getting Android 4.3 in the near future, and our news this week on superior battery performance for the aging phablet got more reads than any of the sexy new models on the block, proving there's lots of die-hard fans who still love their Note 2. Loyalty is a beautiful thing, people.
Our new AndroidPIT app is here!
The number two spot went to our brand-new, completely redesigned AndroidPIT app, which makes us feel all warm and fuzzy that you wanted to read about it more than the Galaxy Gear or the iPhone 5s! The app has been built from the ground up by our awesome developer, Henrique, and while it only debuted a few days ago the retooled new app is racing up the charts both in the US and Europe. There's only one way to find out how great it is, and that's to install it pronto!
Finally, the mad range of new devices made it into the top five, as we put the technical specs of the new wave of flagship devices up against one another. Check out who has the most power, the best camera, the biggest memory and more in our side-by-side comparison between the iPhone 5s, Galaxy S4, LG G2 and Sony Xperia Z1. You might be surprised who came out on the bottom of the shiny new heap.
Themer: Installing Android Themes made easy
Who doesn't love themes on their smartphone? I know I do, but I have to admit they're not always the easiest things to get installed correctly. That's where Themer comes in: a great new app that makes installing Android themes on your smartphone an absolute breeze. And what's even better, it's in its beta test phase, so you can get ahead of the curve and impress your friends not only with your superior themes, but with the fact you know how to install them properly.
As if to prove we're not all too busy looking at home-grown smartphones to notice giants on the horizon, the number five spot was taken by the Xiaomi Mi3, advertized as the fastest smartphone of all time. Xiaomi got some attention this week at the Mi3 launch when Hugo Barra, ex-VP of Product Management at Android, showed up to announce his appointment as VP of Global at Xiaomi. We're hoping this means we'll start seeing amazing new low-cost, high-end smartphones like the Mi3 going international.
