Probably you'll find that the iPhone has higher sales than any individual Android phone.

the number of internet users from ios devices are more than that of android users you can search the web, can't say the same about the sales because everyone knows Android runs on nearly all mobile brands

The last numbers I heard showed Android coming in at over 70% of smart device sales. There are simply too many Android device options for Apple to EVER surpass Android.

Hi all, a couple months old now but some interesting figures on various aspects of this discussion (like who's making money for example) can be found here:

Check these out for some recent stats:

Some current stats from StatCounter, released yesterday. My summary here:
https://www.nextpit.com/mobile-browsing-samsung-defeats-apple
The original report here:
http://gs.statcounter.com/download/StatCounter-Internet-Wars-Report.pdf
and some (slightly inconsistent) figures I wrote about last week, here:
https://www.nextpit.com/samsung-and-android-dominate-sales

The StatCounter report covers the last twelve months. The earlier report from Kantor covers a three month period. But it's interesting that their figures don't match up. What do you think of all this bean counting?

Basically Android wins overall in most categories now, but the US and the Uk continue to be Apple strongholds. But the stats are always changing...

And now Samsung has been declared the most profitable consumer electronics manufacturer in the world (well, at least for Q2 of 2013), posting 8.33 billion dollars in profit against Apple's 6.9 billion dollars. They also shipped more than double the units as Apple.

Its true that iPhone has great sales and if compared to any individual Android phone they higher sales than any other Android phone but if we look at the two platforms Android has much more users worldwide.
May be there will be some ups and down if Apple's rumored cheaper iPhone comes into market but as of now the above statement is pretty true.

Hey Daniel, thanks for adding. I just started a new thread about what this two-company situation might mean, feel free to add your thoughts here. As for the cheap iPhone, we can now confirm it will be called the iPhone 5C, not the iPhone 6. Cases have already started appearing on Amazon and the device will be launched on September 10th apparently (along with the iPhone 5S). So we'll soon see how Apple can compete in the low-end stakes against all the cheap Android devices out there.

And some more sexy statistics to prove Android's superiority:
Android smartphone shipments grew a whopping 73.5 percent between the second quarter of 2012 and Q2 2013, according to research firm IDC’s latest numbers. 187.4 million Android-powered phones shipped in the most recent quarter, representing 79.3 percent of all smartphones shipped during the quarter.
from the IDC.

Obviously, you will find higher sales value from individual Android phone, as iPhone rolling out with its one model but Android has lots of competitions with different brands and sometimes their own brands as well....
