LG Optimus F5 — White/gray screen on Stylo 4

My Stylo 4 screen went to white/gray for no apparent reason. This is all I get after regular and recovery boot, and battery dis-reconnect. I can't get to a repair shop but I am comfortable with opening it up and fixing if it's possible. Anyone know why it happened and how to fix it?

avoid problems and bring it to a repair shop
