Cannot transfer files to or from Moto G5

Transferring files from Pc to Moto G5 works only from time to time, sometimes my Pc will
recognize the phone, sometimes nothing happens.
Ordinarily I use the developer option, and click on the media or picture transfer protocol.
There should be a notification on the phone screen when plugging in a usb-cable, this notification very rarely comes.
Swiping down from the top of the screen does not give any results either.
Any solutions to this?

The notification on the phone screen when plugging in an USB cable very rarely comes. This is unnormal.

So, check the hardware socket-contact on your phone, the socket-contact on your PC, as well as the USB cable at first.

If they are all fine, then check whether the driver on your PC works well if the OS of your PC is Windows 7 or 10.

At last, check if the Android OS on your Moto G5 works fine. Especially, is there some malware running on your device?

Do not use a cable. There are a lot of apps for transferring without cable. Portal or Wifile for example

It was the cable that must have been faulty. I believed it was ok since the phone charged, connected with this cable through the pc.
Trying another cable, the phone was recognized immediately by the pc.
