HTC HERO CYANOGENMOD NIGHTLIE UPDATE

So I have an old HTC Hero lying around that works perfectly well, but is still running only 2.2.

I've looked around CyanogenMod and there isn't a stable mod available for the hero, just nightlys. Has anyone had any experience with them? Do they work ok? I'd be curious to try it out.
