How to remove a phone number from Whatsapp

I have a number in whatsapp that I cannot remove / delete even this number is not listed in the contact list as contact

To remove a phone number from WhatsApp, Go to your contact on the phone and select the option to delete the contact. This will remove your number from the phone.

Or

Open WhatsApp and go to the Chats tab.
Tap New Chat.
Search for or select the contact you’d like to delete.
Tap More options > View in address book > More options > Delete.

In my opinion, the first option is the most effective means of doing what has to be done.

If you have an unwanted number in WhatsApp that can't be deleted, try these steps:

Check recent chats or group conversations and delete them.
Resynchronize contacts in WhatsApp settings.
Clear WhatsApp cache in your phone's settings.
