Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 — Exchange memory card: ?

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 / SM-T800
Android 6.0.1
16 GB (internal) memory
Samsung 32 EVO external card, with almost all possible apps transferred to the card (App-Manager, 'memory' > external memory device)

What will happen now when I exchange the external card for a bigger one (as I understand, max. 128 GB should work) ? I would then format the new card as 'internal memory', this should be possible with Android 6.x
- will the tablet be bricked ?
- will it simply ask for re-installing the shifted apps ?

Move them back to internal memory. Exchange the card.Move them again to the card.

there is absolutely no space in internal memory ...
