whatsapp "last seen" changed, users says without action

Hi,
my partners "last seen" changed to be invisible. I mentioned it to her, she said, it was done without her action. Is it possible to be triggered by a Whatsapp update without any users action?
I'm out of the country and want to control her activities, she told me she didn't change it.

There may be some hidden settings, as they were in Yahoo Messenger.
I do not really think, but also look through the application settings.
