Google app taking up 16gb storage with data

The Google app, the one with news feed and such, has 16gb of internal storage used.

When I reinstalled, it was instantly back to 16gb.

When I go to settings applications Google, it shows 15.xxgb used as data. If I click on internal storage used, I can clear search history and cache, worth about 50mb, but there is no option to clear app data.

What is this, and how do I get rid of it? 16gb is heinous.
