When I open either Whatsapp or Messenger my phone is connected to a VPN CALLED Safe Connect VPN that I have not installed, this makes the service very slow and I'm a bit worried about what can be seen by unwanted people, how can I get rid of this? I do have a paid VPN service installed. I cannot find the app to uninstall. I have traced the unwanted servers to amongst others USA and Canada.

Can you find the vpn APP in Settings > Apps and uninstall It there? If not, maybe you will have to do a factory reset after you Have make a backup for your data in order to get rid of that strange vpn app.
And you should always install apps or games from reliable source such as Play Store or official website of apps' developer.

Download size < 0.15 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.
The minimalist app available on Play Store: https://goo.gl/ws42fN

Many thanks for your fast reply, I'm sorry for the delay answering, as my email notes I am old!
I cannot find the app in settings> Apps.
I'm a bit worried about doing the factory reset as this is my third Samsung mobile. How can I be sure that the backup is for this phone?
