reset done but still not working

An update would not work on my tablet therefore I could not use it at all. Seeing as I only had a few apps on I decided to reset without saving the data or backing anything up as I thought I could just reinstall everything. I have done everything stated and reset everything, however I am having exactly the same issue as before. Even though I have signed into my wi-fi account and it states that I am connected I am still unable to use the Internet or sign into my Google or Hotmail accounts. The message I keep getting has the android symbol followed by Web page not available. Please can someone help me.
