lock screen issues

im having trouble keeping the lock screen on my phone. It will stay on if i use a pin or pattern but wont stay active if i use swipe. i dont want to go through the trouble of entering a pin or pattern each time... can anyone help me out? Of course, its Samsung galaxy s3 running 4.4.2.

Put none first then change it with swipe
