Devices very similar in terms of RAM (1Gb), microSD (up to 32Gb), operating system (Android 2.3 Gingerbread) and CPU (1.5 GHz Scorpion dual.core).
BUT...the HTC Amaze has a slightly better resolution (540x960 vs. the Samsung Galaxy S2's 480x800) and is shorter and smaller, but thicker than the Galaxy S2.
I think it'll come down to a difference in aesthetics and UI preferences --- i.e. those who want Sense 3.5 vs. those who want TouchWiz 4.0 and those who prefer a smaller slightly thicker phone to those who want a longer, skinnier phone -- because, technically, the devices are almost identical.
