Just got this S5 and haven't been to Verizon to install SIM and activate. Accidently tapped a message about locking the phone and it shut down and I can't get it to reboot. I can get to the reset selection but when I press the home button screen just goes black and phone does not boot. Will having the SIM installed cure this or is there something else I can do to get the phone working again?

You need not have a SIM card installed. But make sure that your device has at least 50% charge life. Then you can finish factory reset process via recovery mode.

Download size < 0.15 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.

I get to that screen for factory reset but the home button doesn't work. I now have a situation where the phone gets in a loop of recovery boot-shut down-start up-recovery boot. The only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery. Never seen anything like this before. Battery is at 90%.

Yes, I have tried all sorts of button combinations. I can get to the android download screen but nothing happens or I can get to recovery boot but it starts a loop start up-recovery boot-shut down that needs battery disconnect to stop it.
