Messaging notifications

I have an LG Tribute Dynasty. It rings and I get an audible notification from fb Messenger, but no audible notification from plain text messaging unless it's actually open on my screen. It worked when I first got it and it's only a few months old. How do I fix it?

I am having the same problem with gmail audio notifications. But it only happens one in awhile.
All ready checked notification settings and thier on.

I left this post to see if anyone has a explanation for this.
