How to run Android apps 8.0 version on Android 9.0?

I have an Android apps that is only supported till Android 8.0. But I have a new phone with the latest Android 9.0. When I tried running the apps, it crashed all the time. Is there any solution to make the apps work on Android .09 besides downgrading my Android to version 8.0?
