Android OS Upgrade?

I have a Samsung galaxy s3 that is not on any carrier with no SIM card , i use it for WiFi only. Having trouble with WiFi connection it connects for about 20 seconds then it turns off. Running android version 4.4.2. Can i upgrade software free?

Software updates are free! But without a carrier signal you have to update over the internet!
If you do find a way to do it, be careful you don't update your phone to a software that is to advanced for your device.
You could very easily overload your storage and turn your phone into a useless brick!

Im running Android 4.4.2 OS Samsung Galaxy S3, 16GB storage. I have internet connection using WiFi Direct off another phone. Is there any sites you can recommend for free upgrade downloads?

It is possible to update your s3 to the 5.11 software (the lollipop). But you have to install a custom Rom first.

5.0 update for the galaxy s3.
