With its increasingly growing fleet, Tesla is now planning to augment its service capacity through integration of service functionalities into their mobile application development informs Elon Musk, CEO (Tesla).

Recent upgrades

Seems like Tesla is definitely leveraging its mobile application development work.

Currently, Tesla offers considerably basic functionalities to its owners including locking and unlocking of the cars, climate setting controls, and the like. However, in the recent times, the company is seen to be adding quite some interesting and new features such as enabling Tesla owners to move software updates to their car as well as a message inbox.

Taking it all up a notch, Musk is now looking to bring a service feature to their customers right at the tap of a button. So, you can now directly call a Tesla Technician to come over and look into your car directly through the mobile app. However, this feature is available only for a few crucial problems that do not need a lift.

Tesla had previously launched a similar service-request feature online, such as the ability to request an appointment online using your ‘Tesla Account’, keeping the app developers pretty occupied.

The company is popular for calling its owners whenever a vehicle is recorded as possibly being in an accident in their system. They would offer loaner vehicles during a car’s service period.

However, now Musk is also looking at providing a “top-of-the-line service loaner” immediately at the site of an accident or even a breakdown. Plus, the owner will also receive status updates and ETA in the app itself while their vehicle is being serviced.

Conclusions: All these enhancements would make things much easier for the service staff of Tesla as well as the customers. However, the Model 3 ramp up makes Tesla’s promises to augments its services quite doubtful. Also, with its last year’s claims to have fully-loaded P100Ds as loaner vehicles in all service centers, its current clam of instant loaner vehicle seems quite far-fetched.
