What is Sp Flash Tool

Sp Flash Tool is the application that is provided and developed by MediaTek company to improve the performance of their processors. Meditek is world famous IC designer for smartphones, tablets, consumer goods and many more.

What You Need To Use Sp Flash Tool

  • Since Sp Flash Tool is a PC based utility software you need a Windows
    Or a Linux computer (32 or 64-bit)

  • Original USB cable of your device

  • MediaTek USB-VCOM drivers Firmware file you are going to flash along
    with the scatter file
    Scatter file contains the information of device structure and the memory map of the image file. Since sp flash tool is scatter based always check if the firmware file contains the scatter file.

Installing MediaTek USB-VCOM drivers on Windows computer

Sometimes MediaTek drivers are not allowed to install on Windows computer. In the situation like that follow Disable signature verification enforcement process

  • Click Start > Settings>Update & security > Recovery
  • Advanced Startup > Restart Now
  • Troubleshoot > Advanced options> Start Up settings > Restart
  • Then the computer will restart with the startup setting screen
  • To Disable signature verification enforcement until next restart
    press F7
  • After restarting the computer, you can go forward with MediaTek
    USB-VCOM drivers

How To Flash Stock ROM Using Sp Flash Tool

  • Download Sp Flash Tool and extract it

  • Download Stock Firmware you wish to flash and extract it

  • Switch off your smart device

  • Now click "Flash_exe" to launch the Sp Flash Tool

  • Click download tab and click the scatter loading button to load
    scatter file

  • Scatter file is located in the firmware file

  • Click on the "download icon" to launch the flashing process

  • Then connect your smart device and click volume up or down button to
    ease the computer to recognize the smart device

  • Wait for about 10 minutes, after a successful operation a message
    will be displayed along with a green circle.

How To Flash Custom ROM Using Sp Flash Tool

  • Download the relevant Custom ROM for you android MediaTek device

  • Unzip the folder

  • Start your computer in “Device driver signature disabled” mode

  • Install MediaTek USB-VCOM drivers

  • Launch Sp Flash Tool in “Administrator Mode”

  • Next, click “Scatter-loading” and load the scatter file that is
    located in the firmware file

  • Now select the “Download Agent” go to the Sp Flash Tool folder and
    select “MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin”

  • After the above steps go to the”Format” tab and check the validation

  • Now switch off your device and connect

  • Then click start and to format the device

  • Next, disconnect the device and click on the download button under
    the download tab

  • Again connect the device

  • Then the custom ROM installation will begin and wait for about 10
    minutes A green tick will appear after successful installation

It would be good to have a link and procedure to install the Mediatek Vcom drivers for Linux please.
I did manage to do the operation on a borrowed (windows) laptop, but it would be better to use my own!

Hello, could you please tell me how to start Windows 8.1 in “Device driver signature disabled” mode?
I tried a lot, to flash my device but I failed every time. After clicking on the download button in the SP Flash Tool application, there is no any progress. I neither could format my device nor could I flash it. Could you please help me out?

Go to the start menu and click restart while holding shift, to get into the advanced boot menu. Navigate to "Startup Settings", wait until it loads and press 7 or F7. Make sure "Disable driver signature enforcement" is highlighted, then press enter and you'll start in the correct mode. Install the drivers and continue flashing.

It allows you to flash Scatter Based Stock Firmware on devices powered by Mediatek Chipset. All you need to have the correct Scatter based Stock Firmware of your device.
Always use the latest version of the sp flash tool along with the previous versions.

Great post.
But I was having a problem with my phone due to flashing a custom rom using twrp. The best solution I could think of right now is flashing a stock rom. But whenever you plug your phone using your charger or to a pc it boots up to twrp recovery.
Is it not going to affect the whole process when using sp flash tool because you have to plug your phone to your pc.
