hello,

Kind of urgent question, on my whatsapp i have everything, my employers numbers etc so really need to get on it. I had an iphone, it got stolen, so really my question is, if i buy a new android will i be able to get my whole conversations back? i have a mac computer and it comes up with this code that says i have to scan iton my phone and ill get it all on my laptop , it says scan it on iphone, android or windows phone, so if i got a cheap android and scanned it on my computer would it be then appear on my new android and also my laptop?

Hi Lucy, welcome to AndroidPIT! :)

A cheap Android phone will not help in this case. WhatsApp messages are only backed up locally, not in the cloud. The web app you are talking about is simply mirroring the content that it finds on the phone that you use to scan the code, it will not, however, show old messages.

The easiest way to get your conversations back (and honestly the only one I can think of) is to get a new iPhone. WhatsApp on iOS is backing up conversations using iCloud. If you log in with your Apple account on the new phone and register the same number in WhatsApp, it should find the backup and restore all your content.

Liebe Grüße, Bastian
