I have just installed Android Studio 3.0. Then I created a new Android project based on android 24. I have android SDK installed on my system.

But the Android option does not appear under tools menu. So I am unable to configure AVD for deploying the project.

I have jdk 1.9 installed and it is in the path.

Can anyone suggest anything that I need to do?

Same issue here...I have been struggling for a couple days now - installed/uninstalled, read numerous articles - nothing seems to apply to what is occurring with this latest Android Studio version??

I got the same problem.

Check you don't have any errors on the bottom of android studio. I got one with sdk build. If you got the same click on the link in error log.

Next go to file -> settings -> Appearance&Behavior -> Menus and Toolbars.
Roll up Main menu -> Tools.
Choose Android.
Click on 'Applay' button and 'OK'.
Wait for a while (gradel progressbar on the bottom).

I hope that I solve your problem.

New Android Studio 3.1 features make editing inline SQL/Room Database code in the Android project much easier. This release has SQL code completion in @Query declarations, SQL code navigation across projects and better SQL statement refactoring.

Check 'System Settings - Android SDK' to verify that you have properly installed Android SDK and have properly set SDK location.
