How to add a contact for WhatsApp?

When I tap the "+" icon in upper-right corner of the 'Select contact' page, it seems to new a phone contact.

May I add a contact just for WhatsApp? I mean something like a contact for Skype.

Whenever you add any new contact in your phonebook then it automatically fetched in WhatsApp if that person avail on WhatsApp.
