Android O Adaptive Icons concept swallowing our identity?

The new icon structure takes our freedom of design. Just think, If I use border/stroke for an app icon and that is the main identity of the app, how do we set with adaptive icons? If we set, then we lost our identity?

Any one of you feel it same and find a better way?

Android O has been confirmed to be Android 8.0, so what will the Android O interface look like and what improvement as the Android N 7.0 version?

IMO it's really cool, developer just have to design main shape, without shadows, margins etc. It looks better on launcher layer.
