Hiya there
In the recent whatsapp update they added the ability to add video and pictures to your status.
What I can't find is a way to alter your text status only ! It seems to have gone altogether, does anyone know if it's 1) still there 2) if it is, how do i change it ??

Hey Andy, welcome to AndroidPIT! 
As far as I know, they completely removed the old option. So you kinda have to use the new feature if you want to update your status.

latest WhatsApp Version is 2.17.79
HI,
The new status function is very good and you can also writer a status with picture. but if you still want to know how to update text status.
please follow the simple steps
open whatsapp>Click on 3Dots(on the right upper corner)
Tap on Setting Menu
Click on your picture and status
Now click on you Status
Now you can update your status..!! Enjoy!! :p
