First backup your data on the phone. Then write random data to overwrite the current data. After that, factory reset the phone. This should be OK to protect the data being recovered.

Factory reset is a perfect to solution to erase all the old data from Samsung Galaxy phones. Every time I buy or sale any old Android devices I will preform Hard reset/Factory Reset to remove all the unnecessary data.
