NO WHATSAPP APP - HOW RECOVER OLD CONVERSATIONS

Hi Folks,

Odd problem.

My daughter was in Thailand and got a local sim card. Installed WhatsApp. Worked fine.

Came home to SA, having thrown away the sim card! And stupidly uninstalled lots of stuff, including Whats App.

But she still has backup stuff on her phone, like:

msgstore-2016-08-18.1.db.crypt12
msgstore-2016-08-25.1.db.crypt12

But she cannot download WhatsApp and restore as normal, because no Sim Card and no number.

Can I just get another Sim Card and download WhatsApp and restore from there, or is there another way to read those files?

Hi Ian, welcome to AndroidPIT! :)

Sadly you can not use the Backup with a new number. WhatsApp is looking for a Backup that includes the same account phonenumber. Therefor it won't be able to use the backup.

Is there no way we can restore or read them?

Sadly, no. As long as you don't have access to the old phone number, there is no way to access the old messages.

If you lost data from Android phone , i recommend you can have a try use recovery tool to scan phone, because it will have a great chance to retieve lost android data , unless thses lost data has not been covered by other data on the phone ,

I have no been told that I can use the email on the phone to go to the PLAT STORE and download the WhatsApp app.

Anyone any idea what I should do then?

We can have soo many data recovery tools in google, we can do with that..
