The phone became sluggish. I rebooted. After reboot, some of my apps were gone. :-'(

I opened Application Manager. It appears the apps got deleted became "com.(developer's name).(app's name)" and 0.00B.

I tried to install one app which got deleted. It failed. (Error code: -110)

What's wrong? How could I get back the apps, data and settings?

I have no SD card.
It is Samsung Galaxy Note 2, not rooted.
Please help. Thanks a lot.

if the sd card is not completely mounted the apps might disappear but you are not using an sd card . Then i guess it's the internal memory corruption .

Try these
Try Hard reset or Re-flash with latest firmware. The galaxy Note 2 firmware is very old and there might be bugs. or
Insert an SD card and move the apps or
Install a custom ROM

Hi Mr. masterton

U cannot able to get the data which is gone but you can get the apps just entering into your google plus mail id , for these kind of issue you can have the software like easy backup which you can able to import to the google account.
disable the developer option from the setting page.

I pressed update firmware to check if there was any new firmware. It said the firmware was the latest.

I don't know how to install a custom ROM. Which ROM should I install? Any recommendation?

I couldn't reinstall those unrecoverable apps.
The app data are still there, but the apps are unrecoverable.

disable the developer option from the setting page.

What is this? I don't know how to disable the developer option. Thank you.

I would like to backup data and do a factory reset.
But how could I backup the data of those unrecoverable apps?

I tried Helium which states it can backup app data without root access. Unfortunately those apps which got deleted mysteriously were not on the backup list.

Titanium Backup needs root access. I've never rooted before.
What's the easiest way to root my phone? Thank you. :)

You can re-flash your current Firmware with ODIN, this is factory reset your phone or you can hard reset from recovery mode. This might be a software bug.
You can get the latest Android 6.0 custom rom , Cyanogen Rom is the best but you have to root.

Rooting is very easy, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143479
For more rooting methods just google.

Thanks a lot, but I need to backup data before I do factory reset / install custom ROM.
I think the best bet is to backup all folders and files (including hidden ones). Do you know how?

  1. First, go into Settings.
2.Scroll all the way down to About Device.
3.Next, tap on the Software Info section.
4.Now, you will have to tap seven times on the Build Number field.
