Samsung Galaxy Note 2 — Only WLAN showing in the menu but no WiFi

Hi and thanks in advance for any help you could give me.

I've just received a Samsung phone, Galaxy note 2, however, it only shows "WLAN" as a connection, I can't find wifi anywhere (I mean, any wifi word, or any wifi mention in the phone at all)

Is there something that can be done? I really appreciate your help. Thanks again.

If I just tap on the WLAN icon, it just turns it on and off, however if I go to settings and tap lan, I do get network searching, I know that WiFi is pretty much a term given to WLANs that have been certified and all, but still, I seem to be getting charged by my company for running on "wlan" instead of "wifi" as itself, that's why I desperately need to know if there's a way to switch to wi-fi... I've tried the reboot and unfortunately it stays the same

Any ideas will be more than welcome
