I used to backup Samsung photos with Samsung file manager tool. I tried the way you offered to Back up Photos from Samsung Galaxy S7 to a PC. It also works well. Thanks a lot.

Based on my using experience, Samsung Smart Switch is better than Samsung Kies.

1.Samsung Backup Assistant.By running it on computer, you can transfer photos between Samsung phone and computer with very simple operations.
2.AutoPlay.You can take full advantage of this AutoPlay feature of Windows PC to transfer photos from Samsung phone to computer easily.

I have tried to gain assist from Syncios Data Transfer which has 3 mode like phone to phone transfer, restore from backup files, back up data to PC. It is so convenient for you to direct back up whatever it is contacts, photos, messages to PC !
