Whats app change of time on last seen today

Whilst in a friends messages their last seen was 00.48 then it suddenly changed to 1.14 then it went back within 30 seconds to 00.48. Are they trying to hide when they were last seen and temporary blocking me?

This exact thing happened to me last night...my friend last seen was 4:44 then it changed back to 2:58 any ideas what's the issue? Thanks
