Hi,
First off my name is Roisin and I am the mdm manager at my company and have been tasked with rolling out some completely locked down android devices. I have gotten everything set except for one final issue.
We have had security issues in the past with users adding personal accounts on the devices and we would like to remove this feature entirely to prevent data loss/leakage.
As a corporate customer we cannot root devices as this voids the warranty with our supplier.
I am a complete noob when it comes to android development however I am willing to learn, I have beginner java and xml skills.
My question is this -
Is it possible to disable the add account feature for specific accounts? We can lock twitter, facebook etc as these are features within the majority of MDM solutions but I would like to be able to block imap/pop accounts, dropbox and samsung accounts.
I can create a custom policy within my mdm to deploy to the phone without rooting it. The policy uses OMA URI. All my logic tells me it is possible I just need to know where to start and more importantly which setting I need to look at.
Would anyone out there have any thoughts?
I have found the following and I think this is what I am looking for but would appreciate some guidance to get me started if anyone can help.
add_account_settings.xml but it won't let me paste the code here...
