I replaced the stock 3000mah battery with a 5820mah battery but the G3 still reads it as a 3000mah in the settings. I feel that I am not getting the full advantage of the larger battery. How do I change my phone settings to read the larger battery?

Have never heard that it's possible to change the original battery of a smaller capacity to a larger battery. If the phone initially supports 3000mah battery it won't work longer if you use 5820 mah battery. To my mind, it can only harm the functionality of your phone. Maybe your original battery has worn out and as a result, your battery runs down faster. Just buy the new 3000mah battery and it'll work as brand new.
I used to have LGG3 and can say that its battery is quite powerful and therefore it wore out every year. As a result, every time I had to order the new battery.
