Getting blank messages while chatting in WhatsApp

Of late, I m getting blank messages while chatting with a friend. The person at the other end confirms that he has sent a message with a text but i m not receiving it. And this has happened on a couple of occasions with different people. Can someone please help me out with what could be the issue?

Well @vijay that's weird haven't heard about situation like this previously anyway try clearing the cache and the data stored by Whatsapp by heading over to the settings>application manager (thinking) see if that helps !
