What are unboxing videos good for?

I guess there's a kind of ''living vicariously'' aspect to whatching an unboxing video, but I don't really get the point.

Is there really that much interest in knowing what the box looks like for a new phone or tablet? Or is anyone really concerned that it won't come with a USB charger or headphones?

Or am I missing something? What's the point of unboxing videos?

We like to watch unboxings, because they gave us a part of the feeling of satisfaction felt by owner of the brand new device. Is a very addictive activity, and leads to a more dangerous addiction: shopping. We are consumers excited by the shining of new products and the fever of new product manipulation.
