I have mp4 video files I am trying to play on my tablet....a few mp4 files work but the majority don't. I have tried the pre-installed video app along with mx player and a variety of others from the play store. I have even tried converting the mp4 with conversion software to try to make more compatible with android but nothing works. Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, that's weird I guess MX player works with most of the file formats and playing mp4 file should be another easy job. Anyway try installing VLC player if you haven't and if still the problem persis them I guess there may be some problem with the mp4 file you are trying to play 
anyway furst try your luck with VLC
