A hard reset is a good way to fix some software related problems on your Sony Xperia Z2. This should however be one of your last resorts, there are often less intense methods to fix many of your Android problems. Try turning your phone off for a while and then restart it, or take the battery out. Sometimes the easiest solutions are the best.

Before attempting a hard reset, ensure that you have backed up all of your data beforehand. There are a number of good apps that can do this, such as Titanium Backup, Carbon Backup and Helium.

Alternatively you can use the back up and restore app ready installed on your handset, like this:

  • If you are backing up content to a USB storage device, make sure the storage device is connected to your device using the appropriate cable. If you are backing up to an SD card, make sure the SD card is properly inserted in your device.
  • From your Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Find and tap Back up & restore.
  • Tap Back up, then select a backup destination and the data types that you want to back up.
  • Tap Back up now.
  • Enter a password for the backup, then tap OK.

Please note: AndroidPIT do not take responsibility for any loss or damage incurred during this process.

How to perform a hard reset:

Open your App drawer and find the “Settings” app.
Tap on “Backup & Reset”.
Tap on “Factory Data Reset”.
Choose “Reset Phone”.
Press “Erase Everything”.

Alternatively, you can simply press the RESET BUTTON, which can be found under the flap cover of the MicroSD card slot, with a pen or something pointy.

Easy :)
