If you're not a fan of videos auto-playing in Facebook, you can limit the auto-play functionality.

Unfortunately you don't have the option to permanently disable them, but you can stop them from auto-playing while you're on a data connection (which will rapidly chew through your data allowance).

Just go into App Settings and look for the ''Auto-play videos on Wi-Fi only'' check box and tick that sucker!

Of course, when you're connected to Wi-Fi at home, school or the office you'll still see those videos, but at least you won't be wasting your precious data allowance on them (unless you choose to).

Check out our article for more steps and how to disable Facebook auto-play videos on your PC too.

For Android

Open the Facebook app
Tap your phone's menu button
Tap Settings
Scroll down and tap Video Auto-play
Choose an option
For computers:
Go to your options drop-down menu in the top right.
Click "Settings"
Select the "Videos" link on the left.
Turn the "Auto-Play Videos" from "ON" to "OFF"

For Phones and tablet apps:
You can adjust your auto-play settings to On, Wi-Fi only or Off. If auto-play is On, the data used depends on the amount of time you spend watching a video. If you scroll past an auto-play video in News Feed, your phone will use less data than if you stop to watch it for a longer period of time. If auto-play is set to Wi-Fi only, no data will be used.

To adjust your auto-play settings:

Click the menu button on the bottom of your screen.
Once you’re there, tap “Settings & Privacy,” then “Settings.”
From there, scroll down until you find “Media and Contacts,” then tap “Videos and Photos.”
Finally, once you find “Autoplay,” you can turn off the feature.

Auto-play videos is enabled by default on Facebook, on both the web and mobile versions, regardless of whether you are on Wi-Fi or 4G. However, disabling autoplay is very easy to do from the settings, but it is also easy to get lost in it.
To disable autoplay, the process varies slightly from the mobile version to the web application.

On smartphone :

  • Open Facebook and press the three horizontal bars in the top right
  • Scroll down the screen
  • Touch the arrow next to Settings and Privacy to access the menu
  • Press Settings
  • Press Media and Contacts a little lower and then Auto-Play on the
    next screen.
  • By default, auto-play video is enabled for "mobile data and Wi-Fi
connections". To disable it, choose the option Never play videos

The deactivation process is also to be done on the web version of Facebook if you use it as regularly as the mobile application:

  • Log in to your Facebook account from a browser
  • Click on the arrow in the upper right corner and then click Settings.
  • Click on Video from the menu on the left, all the way down.
  • Then click on the drop-down menu in the Auto-play video. Choose the
No option to disable auto playback.

I don’t like Facebook, why the company that created the cool Instagram, can’t make your main social network convenient? There even in order to write messages you need to separately download the program.
