Samsung Galaxy S4 — Unknown IMEI

Hello forum readers.
I recently purchased a samsung galaxy S4 (from AT&T) online and brought it down on vacation to the Caribbean. When I reached down to the island I carried it to a store to get it unlocked and the technician I carried it to failed to do so and told me that the IMEI number is now "unknown"... I realized then that this "technician" didn't know much about what he was doing so I'm wondering is there a way to fix this unknown IMEI problem? When I gave him the phone the IMEI was showing and now it's "unknown" Help please...

Hello Liam, some time android phone dose not show there IMEI via dialing *#06#. When you dial this the phone says unknown, So you would go to setting-->About the actual IMEI appear under the IMEI section.

Hello Paul and thank you for responding.
I tried the dialing method as well as checking for the IMEI in settings and in both instances it states that the IMEI is unknown. Is there any other methods you know of that would restore the IMEI?
