Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 — Software Updates, not wanting to upgrade.

If I don't want a software upgrade to KitKat for instance or any other new system on android, is all I need to do is go into the about device settings, then software update, then make sure that I have the Auto update un-ticked, and with it being un-ticked does this mean that it won't automatically start an upgrade process and that I will have an option to decline?
