I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone (SCH-R530C, Android version 4.1.2). So far, I have downloaded Titanium Backup, Tether, Root Uninstaller, Pimp My Rom, RootAppDelete and Theme Manager.

I have been able to get rid of apps that I no longer want, but that is all I have been able to do.

How do I get the themes to work? I have selected some, downloaded some, rebooted, but nothing has changed.

There is something called deodex. Is this related to my choices not working? Is there anything else I have to do besides rooting my phone?

Thanks very much for any help.

Erm I may be wrong but if you are just trying to change themes why not just get a launcher? Apex or Nova launchers are pretty good and again I have no idea what your question is I'm just ranting on because you mentioned themes so hope I helped.

Sorry, I can't help you. I had this problem until my desire for heavy theming went away.

This is a very relaxed (if wonderfully heavily moderated) forum. What they don't do is get pissy about details, so I am taking it on myself to get that way with one detail that forums often get cross about: the post's Title. Try to keep it relevant to the details of the query. 'Can't get themes to work' or some such would have been far more helpful. Most readers just pass over posts with uninformative titles.

Someone is bound to help you here, but more so with a clearer title!

Don't know any possible solution. Let's just wait and see if other forum members have something useful for you.

Themes really depend on your ROM. Do you have a custom ROM installed, or do you just have root? You'll need to install a custom recovery (my current favorite is TWRP, but CWM is the most common, I think). After that you can install a custom ROM if you want to change themes, and even then the appearance and theme compatibility will depend on what ROM you have

I'd advise using Eclipse if you want a good custom interface. I don't know how themes work on the stock Galaxy S3, but you might also try downloading ROM Toolbox (just keep in mind that it's a very powerful app that can easily destroy your phone if you do anything foolish).

Casual is a great way to get a custom recovery installed, and it's Java based, so it works on any operating system, Mac or Windows. You can get it at XDA Developers (I can't post links yet, so just do a Google search for Galaxy S3 Casual)
