I ran the Z4mod rooting program. It seemed to complete the permanent root process. So now I'm trying to install Shoot Me to verify that the phone is rooted. I'm still waiting for it to finish installing. It's taking a long time. Is there another way to check if my phone is rooted? I saw somewhere to look for a Super User icon. I didn't see it in the list of apps is it somewhere else?

You will probably have an app called Terminal Emulator in your app tray. Open it and type "su" without qoutes. If you get a "#" with no message, you're phone is rooted. Just to verify further, at the prompt type these commands each followed by hitting the return/enter key:

ls
cd /system
ls

If you see files like build.prop, build.trout.prop then you're rooted. Type exit, hit the enter key then type exit followed by the enter key again to get out of it.

Check out our root forum if you need more information

Thanks. Looks like the Z4mod app didn't work for me. Guess I'll have to do it the manual way. That's a bit scary for me but I'm determined to do it one way or another.
