Just thought I`d get this Forum started seeing how I own the HTC Incredible... and it is just that, "Incredible"!

I am very knowlegdable with the Incredible to include the following:

  • Setup
  • Rooting
  • Installing Custom Roms
  • Customizing Home Screens
  • Tweaks (Over/Under Clocking)
  • Etc

Here is a couple Screen Shots..

This last one was one from my HTC Eris...

I have used my HTC INCREDIBLE for almost 2 years now (this was my 1ST ANDROID SMART PHONE), I have been hesitant to upgrade because I really <3 my HTC INCREDIBLE ... but it appears there won't be any further software updates coming in 2012 (I'm getting the impression that Cellular Phone Carriers want you to start using 4G as they phase out 3G) so the hunt for the best 4G HTC ANDROID SMART PHONE (through Verizon Wireless) begins ...

Thank you AndroidPit (& everyone who posts useful resources) for enriching my geek life

Root FTW! I ve been on ICS for months now, even though HTC phones wont officially start getting ICS for another month or 2. Not only do you get updates faster if you root, the ICS ROMS are highly optimized, and 99% of the time faster than stock ICS ROMS.

Thanks for the immediate info Eric McBride, if I don't feel confident with performing the rooting of my HTC DROID INCREDIBLE, then I will hunt down someone who can (its more then not getting the latest updates, its also Google not wanting to offer support of some of Verizon Wireless' 3G Android Smart Phones) - I think the INCREDIBLE remains one of HTC's best products (& I'm finding other users reluctant to give 'em up for something new(er) - including myself) ...

I just got a close look at the new HTC INCREDIBLE 4G LTE which Verizon Wireless will be releasing to the public in June / July (same colour scheme as the HTC REZOUND, larger but not as large as an HTC ONE) ....

the device is no bigger then the Rezound (so if you prefer a larger HTC ONE, go for it), but it comes Ice Cream Sandwich ready (& its 4g for those - like me - who have milked a 3g for several years) & I found it quite impressive ... waiting to see how much Verizon Wireless wants (& if they offer a deal for upgrades) ...

Verizon Wireless is currently in the news forcing Employees to accept retirement, or face massive lay offs (I guess that means less quality customer service now?) :-/

Overview

To help you with the mandatory system update for your Incredibl by HTC, this page contains the following information:

 System Update Instructions
 System Update while You Are Roaming

Here are a few hints to make the process quick and easy:

 It will take you approximately 5-10 minutes to download the software, depending on network conditions.
 Once you download the software, the next step is to install it onto the device. Installation should take up to 20 additional minutes. Keep in mind that during the installation you will be unable to make or receive calls, including emergency calls.

Note: The size for this software upgrade is 18.9 MB.

System Update Instructions

1. You will be notified that a system update is available on your device. Touch Download and the download will begin.
2. Touch Install Now and the software update will begin. Installation will begin immediately. The device will reboot 3 times then enter system without setup wizard.

3. Users can check the status of their software, or check for new software updates, by going to Settings > Software update > Status (or Check New).

System Update While You Are Roaming

If you are roaming you will not receive a system update notice. To update your device while you are roaming, you will need to be in an area where Wi-Fi is available.
1. Begin by enabling Wi-Fi on your device.
2. To enable Wi-Fi go to "Settings" > "Wireless & networks". Touch "Wi-Fi" to enable
3. Select a Wi-Fi network. Once you are connected, an update notification will appear on your device.

If the system update fails to install, you will get an error screen. However, this only means the software did not install properly. Remove and re-insert the battery and power the device back on. The device will power back on with original software and will prompt you once again to install the system update.

If the update fails again, please visit http://www.verizonwireless.com/contactus
